TD Grade One Book Giveaway

TD Grade One Book WeekSince 2000, in cooperation with ministries of education, school boards and library organizations across Canada — the CCBC has given every Grade One student a free Canadian children’s book. The book is to be taken home by each child to keep and to read with their parents.

This far-reaching and innovative annual program, which provides over 500,000 books to Grade One children across Canada, is fully funded by the TD Bank Financial Group.

This November, Grade One students will take home Let’s Go! The Story of Getting from There to Here, written by Lizann Flatt, illustrated by Scot Ritchie and published by Maple Tree Press.

Journey across our continent and through time to discover the different ways we travel from place to place — from the Stone Age hunters who walked from Asia to this land, all the way to space voyagers’ dreams today. Every page offers a fascinating snapshot of life at a different point in time. The tale of transportation through the ages is a thrilling story of imagination and ingenuity.

The coordination of the TD Grade One Book Giveaway Program is done by the Canadian Children's Book Centre. School boards and ministries of education in all provinces have been contacted and have been asked to respond with their projected enrolment of Grade One students for the fall of 2009 by May 15, 2009. Please contact your school board to make sure that they have responded with the numbers for your school.
