First, my thanks to the CCBC for allowing me to participate in the tour. It was an amazing and exhausting, experience. The schools were fabulous. Without exception, every school was prepared and eager. In every case the principal greeted me at the front door (rare in Ontario) and the teachers had prepared their student very well. In most cases the halls and classrooms were decorated with quotes from my books, pictures, reports – wonderful. This all speaks to how well the students were prepared. (I kept looking over my shoulder to see if someone more, oh I dunno, rock-starish, was behind me.)

In most cases the principal attended at least one session. In many situations the teachers from the first sessions asked if their students could stay for the next session. As a result my audience grew through-out the day. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. (I realize that this is not the point but it was a nice by-product.) In all schools I extra presentations, visited different classes and received one proposal on bended knee. Alas, I refused. It did not seem right.

The adopt-a-school-program, in my opinion, is a rousing success. Who thought that one up? Congratulations.

A word about Carol Ann Hoyte. Amazing. Her great heart, even temperament and sense of humour, were constants. I could not do her job, very few of us could. Hats off to her and hats off to the CCBC.
