The Canadian Children's Book Centre has wonderful Book Week Coordinators located in every province and territory who organize the Book Week tours. If you are interested in hosting an author, illustrator or storyteller during Book Week, please contact the Book Week Coordinator in your region.
The theme of TD Canadian Children’s Book Week 2013 is All the Bookshelf’s a Stage: Celebrating the Performing Arts. Music, plays, dance, drama/theatre and singing are all wonderful ways for youth to express their creativity. Our theme will focus on books that showcase different forms of performance art and how the performing arts can enrich the lives of young people.
We are thrilled to have award-winning author and illustrator Marthe Jocelyn, and her daughter Nell Jocelyn, create this year’s Book Week 2013 poster image. Their work will be the focal image for Book Week 2013 and appear on all of the Book Week materials.
Our Book Week materials will help you celebrate great Canadian children’s books and the performing arts! Marthe Jocelyn and Nell Jocelyn, the fabulous mother-daughter creative duo, have created a lively and fun collage image of a bookshelf overflowing with music, theatre, song and dance!
Young writers, in grades 4 to 12, are invited to submit their stories and/or poems to the Book Week 2013 Writing Contest for Kids & Teens. Judging is done by noted writers from across Canada and one winner from each grade will receive a $250 gift certificate for the bookstore of his or her choice. Two honourable mentions from each grade category will also receive $50 gift certificates. The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2013.
